And All that Jazz

DC’s historic Howard Theatre, a century old this year, celebrated a renovation and a true rebirth this morning.

The theatre’s groundbreaking, attended by Mayor Adrian Fenty, was a reveal of the original 1910 facade  – and a partnership that promises to return the local gem to the heart of the national jazz scene.

The famed neighborhood theatre which launched the careers of such legends as Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and Marvin Gaye, will now be operated by Blue Note Entertainment Group, the force behind such premiere supper club venues as the Blue Note Jazz Club and The Highline Ballroom.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to bring celebrated talent to the Howard,” said Steven Bensusan, Blue Note Entertainment Group President.
