A Night at the Park (Hyatt)

Debuting the hotel’s new ballroom and event space as well as welcoming new General Manager Andrew Davidson, the Park Hyatt threw a ritzy reception Tuesday evening for influencers and industry friends.

“It’s not my first day; I’ve actually been here over a month.  But, the first week I was here, we had an earthquake and a hurricane… so I was wondering if DC really wanted me here or not,” joked Davidson, addressing the cocktailing crowd assembled in the 24th & M Street hotel’s renovated ballroom and dancing to coverband Amaretto.
Davidson, a Brit, pointed out the gallery space’s Americana atmosphere, ironically remarking on the new carpeting (“reminscent of an American quilt”) and (“Lincoln Log”) wood paneling.  But regardless of his heritage, the new GM feels right at home in DC and wants his staff at the Park Hyatt to help guests feel that way, too, starting my tempting attendees with tastes offered in the hotel’s adjoining Blue Duck Tavern.

“I’ve moved 11 times in 25 years, but being here in Washington…I kind of have to pinch myself!”
