It’s about breathing easier.
The LUNGevity Foundation brought together some 300 philanthropists, business leaders, and public officials Saturday night for a Musical Celebration of Hope Gala at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium — celebrating the great progress that continues to be made in lung cancer research.
Guests at the Arabian Nights-themed evening, which was emceed by WUSA9’s Andrea Roane, included Chairs Ginny Grenham and Michelle Olson; Vice Chairs Sharon Bradley and Jamie Dorros; Corporate Chair The Honorable Frederic Malek; and Foundation Vice Chairman Jerry Sorkin; along with supporters Grace and Morton Bender, Wilma and Stuart Bernstein, Dr. Susan Blumenthal, Marcia Carlucci, Ann Fleming and Gordon Peterson, Cindy and Evan Jones, Holly and Doug Kammerer, and Mary and Mandy Ourisman.
LUNGevity President and Chairman Andrea Farris presented the Hope Award for Corporate Leadership to The Dow Chemical Company.
The Face of Hope Award was presented to Representative John D. Dingell, whose remarks served as a call to action to the crowd of LUNGevity supporters, concluding, “On this night of hope, I urge you to continue your work, continue your contributions to this effort, and continue our work to erase lung cancer for all. With your efforts, progress is being made each and every day to combat this terrible disease and protect our people. So, I thank you…for all that you do and have done, and all that we will do together.”
