It was a rummy yummy night Monday at Beuchert’s Saloon as DC Rum Day kicked-off with an industry VIP pairing dinner featuring a variety of rums accompanying Chef Andrew Markert‘s farm-to-table menu. Beuchert’s ownership team and rum industry representatives (some pictured above) were on hand to educate and celebrate the sugar cane based spirit

Feasting on local melon and tomato (washed down with a “Backyard Daiquiri” of Bacardi, lime, basil, apple melon and maraschino), BBQ rock fish (with a Mount Gay version of an Old Fashioned), Bison steak (with Atlantico private cask, shrub and sherry), and finishing with a Bananas Foster flambe (paired with a Chairman’s Spiced “White Lucian”), attendees prepped their palates for a day long weekend of events centered around rum!

The 2nd Annual Rum “Day” DC actually starts August 16th with a festive multi-destination Rum Runner Party Bus, follows with a Speakeasy Rum-B-Que at Gibson (August 17th), and finishes with a Poolside Punch Party & Competition at Capital Liaison Hotel (August 18th).
