16 Year Old Survivor, Comedian John Heffron, Diana Ross at 24th Annual Leukemia Ball

Stop! In the name of …. Diana Ross. The Female Entertainer of the Century (Billboard Magazine, 1976) took to the stage at Saturday’s annual Leukemia Ball — DC’s largest non-political black tie Ball — for a full concert performance. Ross’ six costume changes and energetic performance of countless top hits spanning her five decade career kept the Ball’s 2,500 guests on their feet until the early morning hour.

Last Comic Standing Season 2 winner John Heffron introduced the living legend after a rousing comedic performance of his own and a call to action for the evening’s charitable donations — which tallied to approximately $2.8 million — to aide in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society‘s mission to combat blood cancers.

Sixteen year old Delaney O’Hagan also took to the stage with her family during a Mission Moment at the event.  Diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 7 — and relapsing twice — attending the Ball as a guest of honor was a dream come true for the high schooler, who told us she planned to sing along to every song by the famous headliner.
