Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. The scene was elevated — literally — last Thursday night (May 9, 2019) as stars of the screen and the DC social set came together for the grand opening of the Gerber Group’s 12 Stories atop the InterContinental Hotel.

Actors flowed in from the nearby Creative Coalition #RightToBearArts gala event to join DC notables enjoying 12 Stories’ panoramic view of the city while sipping the bar’s signature superchilled martinis and Casamigos margaritas and dancing to DJ Dirty Hands‘ Top 40 mix.

Gerber Group CEO Scott Gerber mingled with film and television stars including Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), Anthony Carrigan (Barry) and Tim Daly (Madame Secretary), as well as local luminaries like former D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty, Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post critic Robin Givhan, PN Hoffman CEO Monty Hoffman, media mogul Tammy Haddad, Events DC CEO Greg O’Dell, CNN’s Kate Bennett and Alex Marquedt, and Reach Higher (Michelle Obama’s college education initiative) Executive Director Eric Waldo.

Guests rubbed elbows, sipped cocktails, enjoyed the sunset, and danced into the late hours.
