10 Years of Zaytinya!

Spaniards are known for their passion and food… and in Washington, one Spanish man has driven the passion for cuisine. This month, Jose Andres celebrates 10 years of Zaytinya with his closest friends and biggest fans.

At an anniversary celebration Monday evening, guests sipped elegant — but potent — cocktails garnished with rosemary and thyme and tucked into the restaurant’s well known Mediterranean small plates.  (Htipiti, a marinated roasted red peppers, feta and thyme spread, even merited a round of applause.)

A celebratory toast was raised amongst Andres’ inner circle, including El Bulli’s founder Ferran Adria, Head Chef Michael Costa, DC Central Kitchen’s Robert Egger and the Zaytinya founder before he raffled off signed cookbooks to support World Central Kitchen, Andres’other project to alleviate hunger… although this one is for times of crisis and natural disaster.

How appropriate that the common 10th anniversary gift is tin/aluminum?!  Everyone wished they could have taken home Zaytinya leftovers!
